What is a QR code?
A QR code, or quick reference code, is a machine-readable code consisting of a multitude of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the QR code reader on simply the camera on a smartphone.
What is the difference between a static QR code and a dynamic QR code?
Although it’s free to create, once a static QR code is setup in cannot be changed. Static QR Codes do not collect scan statistics.
A dynamic QR code, on the other hand, can be edited, i.e. change the url it directs the user to and you can also get scanning statistics on a dynamic QR code.
What statistics can I get from dynamic QR codes?
You can only receive basic data from scanning a dynamic QR code. These include the following:
- A time stamp of when the QR code was scanned,
- Information about the devices the users are using, i.e. iOS or Android.
- Then finally you can get the geographical region where the QR code was scanned.
What is a custom QR code?
A custom QR code is a QR code that is uniquely branded for a campaign or organisation. You can customise the colour, background and change the shape of the small black blocks. Most companies simply just add their logo in the middle to make it easily identifiable. Be careful though, the more you customise it the less likely it is to be scanned easily and the user can be left frustrated if it doesn’t work.

What is a QR code used for?
QR codes have multiple different uses, but in essence they bridge the gap between offline and online and the possibilities are endless. Access control using QR codes
