QR Codes, what not to do
Building a successful QR Code campaign is not rocket science but there are a few things you should consider avoiding. We have compiled a list of things that you should not do with your QR Code.
- Do not send users to a non-responsive website– Your QR Code must link to a mobile friendly website. Always avoid frustrating your clients by taking them to a website that is not optimized for mobile. With the introduction of the new Google algorithm a mobile friendly website is a must.
- Don’t put a QR Code on a website– The QR Code is meant to lead your clients to your website, it would be pointless to include a QR Code on your website unless the users need to scan a coupon.
- Use a Dynamic QR Code rather than a static QR code. With a dynamic QR Code you are able to change the url/information that the QR Code is linked to at any time. With a static QR Code you can only link it to one location and you are not able to change that link.
- Consider the size of your QR Code– A QR Code has to be large enough to scan from a distance. Whether it is in a catalogue or the side of a building make sure you check the best size for the media platform you are using and Test, Test, Test!
- Keep your website clutter free– Keep your website clean and clutter-free. Do not link the QR code to a website that is difficult to navigate. When a user finds navigating around the website difficult they will not come back the second time.
